１） 職業性喘息
日本職業環境アレルギー学会事務局として、毎年2回、日本職業・環境アレルギー学会雑誌を発行している。さらに、「職業性アレルギー疾患診療ガイドライン2013」を2013年7月5日に協和企画より出版した。また、その英語版を 書き論文に発表した。

２） 石綿（アスベスト）肺の大気マイクロPIXEによる解析
職場や環境中の石綿（アスベスト）吸入による腫瘍・肺線維症発症は社会問題となっており、その発症機序の解明や早期発見法の開発は、急務である。我々は、大気μPIXEを使用し石綿の肺組織内での局在と組成の画像化に世界で初めて成功し、(下図左) 多くの成果を発表してきた。下図右の如く、肺組織内の各元素の分布をみると上段の正常肺ではSi（左端）は検出されても少量であり、Mg（中央）やFe（右端）は観察されないが、下段の石綿肺では、左端の多量のSiの一部に一致してMgとFeが棒状に共存し、容易に石綿(矢印)と同定される。肺線維症患者の肺組織から職場で使われる多量のアルミニウムを検出し、労災申請を行うことができ症例報告を行った。（Intenal Medicine 掲載予定） また、アスベスト関連肺疾患の病態解明や診断における有用性につきこれまでの成果をまとめた総説が雑誌に受理された。（Curr Med Chem. 2013 Feb 1;20(6):789-93.） 本研究は、独立行政法人日本原子力研究開発機構 高崎量子応用研究所と共同研究を現在行っている。

科研費
基盤研究(B)、H24-26年度, 石綿肺早期発見と病態解明をめざすイオンビームを応用した新手法の開発,研究代表者：土橋邦生３）酸化還元状態（レドックス）のアレルギーに及ぼす影響
細胞内グルタチオンレドックスがMAPキナーゼを介して、IL-12産生を制御しているという新知見を得た。また、グルタチオンを還元状態に変換させる薬剤によりマウス喘息モデルにおいて、喘息症状を抑制することができた。これにより酸化ストレスとアレルギーとの関係を明らかとし、新しい治療法の開発の可能性を示した。

COPDのリハビリテーション
COPDの治療では、薬物療法とともに包括的呼吸リハビリテーションの有効性が明らかとなっている。我々は、COPD患者に対する呼吸リハビリテーションの有効性を検証している。成果の一つとして、在宅での運動療法直前の短時間作動性β２刺激薬吸入は、呼吸リハビリテーションの効果を良好にするという結果を得て下記の論文には、発表した。１．Influence of inhaled procaterol on pulmonary rehabilitation in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
